HAVENS Family

At this time, the earliest known ancestor of this branch is Giles HAVENS, born c. 1726 on Long Island, NY (from LDS). More information would, of course, be appreciated greatly.

Descent Chart

Electa and Edmund's family at the time of the 1870 MI census (Orange township, Ionia County) can be seen by visiting http://envoy.libofmich.lib.mi.us/1870_census/Search.asp and searching for DENSMORE, Edmond (ref. by Dianne RICHARDS. The census (taken 4 Jun 1870) indicates:

  • Edmund: 40, farmer, value of real estate $2500, value of personal estate $755, b. NY, mother of foreign birth, father of U.S. birth
  • wife Electa, 24, keeping house, b. in MI

Some of the above Descent Chart information came from Vera Gates HUTCHINGS, whom I met on the genforum boards.

Other information was provided by 3rd cousin Diane EDLIN ("Tinnie" was her great grandmother), who compiled and forwarded information on the Edmund and Belinda (MALLORY) DUNSMORE family (family group no. 715), based on the 1880 MI census.

A Phoebe HAVENS was the wife of Moses SAWYER of Shelter Island, NY in the late 1700s. I'm not sure if there's any connection to the above HAVENS line.

Information on Giles, Joseph and Martha and family came from the LDS website.
