  • Edmund and Belinda were married 14 Jul 1827 at Clayton, Jefferson Co., NY. She was born 20 Mar 1812 (in NY?) and died 19 Mar 1874 in MI. Her parents were Andrew and Mary (WHITNEY) MALLORY (Mary b. Bonn, CT d. Ninth Town, Canada). The family moved to Eaton Co., MI in 1850. His occupation was sea captain. He had a sailing vessel that sailed the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence River. He was said to have owned an island in the waters around MI, which he sold about the time he came to MI (1850). A few years after 1850, they bought a farm in Ionia Co., where most of the children lived. Both Edmund and his wife are buried in the Steele Cemetery, Ionia Co., MI.

Bobbie DAVOLT wrote on genforum (10 Jul 1999) "my great-grandfather was Albert DUNSMORE born in Clayton Co., NY 18 Apr 1845 and d. 7 Jul 1929 at Thayer, Missouri. His family moved to Ionia Co., MI when he was 4 years old. He joined the Union Army in 1862 and served until the end of the war. He married Lucy HAVENS in 1867 in Ionia Co., MI. They had 8 children. They moved to Thayer, Missouri in 1885. At the time of his death, he had a sister, Annis CHAPIN, living in Ionia, MI. My grandfather, Ray DUNSMORE, preceded him in death. I would like to find information on the family before they left Clayton Co., NY.

Albert Clayton DUNSMORE (Vera's line) came to MI with his parents in 1849. He fought in the Civil War from 1862-5. He was in the Battle of Lookout Mt. He married Lucy 21 Mar 1867. They went to Missouri in 1885 in a covered wagon to homestead as much land as he was allowed.
