Tuinis (Ted) DYKSTRA

Ted spent his childhood on the family dairy farm at Andijk, working at various jobs there. He came to Canada in the late 1950s, first settling on Sea Island and later moving to Ladner where he spent the last 40 years of his life. Ted worked at many jobs in his life; farmer, rancher, butcher. He also had two great talents; he was a champion speed skater and he had the ability to make and keep friends of all ages and from all walks of life. Ted died at the Delta hospital several years after being diagnosed with colon cancer. A service celebrating his life and reception was held for his family and friends on Wednesday, 15 Feb 2005, at 2pm at Ladner United Church, 4960 48th Avenue, Ladner, BC.
