Not much is known of Doetse. We only know his first name due to the Dutch custom of using it as a middle name for his children. He must have lived at least for a time in Engwierum, Friesland, since his son Siebe was born there. He was likely a farmer, as was his son. One son emmigrated to the U.S. and lost communication with the rest of the family.
