In the Dear Folks book, the original spelling BAYLEY is corrected to BAILEY (probably by Clifford Benjamin SAWYER), so not sure of correct spelling. Charles and Mary Alice were married 25 Dec 1877 at her farm home at Waupun, WI. Charles and Alice spent their entire married life in Kansas, where they were prosperous farmers. It was a great shock to the surrounding countryside when he succumbed to an attack of pneumonia. She returned to Waupun to make her home. Not sure if they took in foster daughter Mae together of if Mary Alice did this after Charles' death.
