Hmmm, could this Osulph be related to Osulf d1067, last of the Earls of Bamburgh line founded by Eadulf 888-913, whose sons Uhtred and Ealdred were expelled from Bamburgh by Viking king Ragnald 914, but regained it 920, from MBKQ p295? That Dolfin was also probably the 'bro' [likely 2nd cousin, see below] of Gospatric I and both Dolfin and Gos I's son, Gos II, d1138 at the Battle of the Standard. So perhaps the Uchtreds of Northumbria were descendants of this Celtic people?). In Bernard Cornwell's Saxon trilogy, his fictional? main character Uhtred was b856 at Bamburgh Castle, originally named Osbert, but renamed when his older bro Uhtred dies (k. by Viking chieftain Ragnar Lodbrok ['hairy breeks' (breeches)]), son of Uhtred b. c830 k866 at York, and gson of Uhtred b. c800.

Note: Nigel's cousin? was Robert de MOWBRAY d. c1129, Earl of Northumberland, 'a fearsome and lawless [and violent] character, nephew of Bishop Geoffrey, Robt spent 30yrs in prison at Windsor for rebelling against K Wm II 'Rufus' r1087-1100 (son of WmConq). Robt also (w/his men) ambushed and k. K Malc III of Scotland and his son Edward 13 Nov 1093. They'd come seeking to negotiate w/English King Wm II Rufus, but were rebuffed. They were on their way back north when they were killed. Robt was son of Roger de MONBRAI, who fought at Hastings 1066, and who was a bro of Geoffrey Bishop of Coutances, a warrior priest present at the Battle of Hastings and a great friend of WmConq r1066-87, officiated at his coronation at Westminster Abbey, became 1 of the 10 richest men in England. Not sure if Nigel is descended from the Bishop's family? Its possible that Rogerís [d1188] grandmother was Amicia de MOWBRAY (MONBRAI), sis of Bishop Geoffrey and Roger de MOWBRAY

Other more independent areas were Brittany, Aquitaine (technically part of Neustria as of 838), Gascony (technically part of Aquitaine as of 1052), Anjou and Champagne (both carved out of Neustria in 870) [aEWH].

Hmmm, but another entry shows Gospatric I (Earl of Lothian) as the bro of Dolfin, who was granted lands by Henry I c1100 and later k1138 at the Battle of the Standard. 4 sons; Gos II, Adam, Edw, Edg. 49 (c500-05xx) Fornjot, ruler of Finland
Notes from Eric Linklater's book The Conquest of England (1961): "Earl Rognvald of More, a Norwegian potentate in the latter 9C and father of that ['Marching' p7] Rolf (Rollo) who settled Normandy, traced his descent through 11 generations from a king called Fornjot who ruled Finland ..." (12). Possibly mythical, but the story describes the discovery and exploration of Norway. Remains of a Viking ship have been found at "Nydam in Schleswig" (13), suggested that it may have been a Viking shipbuilding center. The term 'viking' came from a Norse word 'vik' for port, and to "go a'viking" meant to raid various ports. Linklater offers "to the gifts of Palestine ... the arts and philosophy of Hellas [Greece] ... the ordered authority and evangelical expansion of Rome ... the medical and mathematical additions to knowledge of Arab imperialism ... [add] the vigour of the Norse propulsion ... If the Mediterranean gave wisdom, the vigour of northern seas helped to propagate it" (16). "Weakening Carolingians led to the rise of stronger Viking leaders" (17) like Rolf, then later Robert the Strong, his sons Odo and Robert I, then [Robert I's gson] Hugh Capet, who succeeded the throne in 987. The family ruled France for ~300 yrs. Later (19), Linklater discusses Ragnar Lodbrok (i.e. hairy breeks), who holds a distinguished place in Scandanavian genealogy, who descended on his father's side from King Sigurd of Denmark, and more remotely from the Yngling Kings of Sweden. On his mother's side, Ragnar descended from Sigurd the Volsung ... Odin. From Ragnar descended the famous Harold 'Fairhair' and Cnut the Great.

38 (08xx-0902) Ethelswida (Alswitha, dau of Mercian nobleman and, via mother, descended from the Mercian royal line, tracing back thru Cynewald to Odin (MBKQ) - Alfred the Great, King of England
Hmmm, since Alfred and Ethelswida's eldest dau Athelflaed d918 m. K24 King Athelred II of Mercia r. c883-911 [by this time demoted to 'Lord of the Mercians' under Alfred, it is perhaps reasonable to assume that Ethelswida is also descended from this branch of the Mercian royal family. Unfortunely, Athelred's pedigree is not known! In his later years, Athelred was sick and so most govt decisions fell to the influential Athelflaed aka 'Lady of the Mercians' r911-8. Since he succeeded K23 Ceolwulf II r874-c83 he could be a son of his. Ceolwulf II was the puppet king of the Danes under Halfdan and Guthrum, installed after they ejected K22 Burgred. Ceolwulf's lineage is also unknown, but his conjectural parents were K20 Wigmund and Elfleda. So the following lineage of Ethelswida from 39-46 is conjectural, but 47-58 would be the standard Mercian royal line in any case.
*** 39-46 conjectural ***
39 (c820-c870) Elfleda - Wigmund K20 r. c839-40 (perhaps the parents of Ethelswida, which would mean Elfleda's siblings included Wigstan d849 and K23 Ceolwulf II r874-c83, and Ethelswida's dau m. her own 1rst cousin, and Ethelswida's nephew, Ceolwulf's son Athelred II)

52 (0467-0534) Cerdic, King of Wessex (MBKQ M1, b. ancient Saxony in N. Germany d. Wessex, England)- ? (likely a Celtic princess, possibly a dau of Cunomorus [aka Mark] under-King of Dumnonia)
... see 52, Traditional Scandavanian Ancestry of Saxon Kings
Note: The authors of KA theorize that Cunomorus (DC13, SA8, aka Cynfawr, Kynvawr, Constantine [DC9 Custeynnyn] and perhaps the King Mark in the Welsh legends) of Dumnonia (a Votadini prince prince dispatched by Arthur to oversee that region after Badon 493) and Maglocunus (aka Maelgwn ED4 and possibly Modred, Arthur's nephew) secretly (and unauthorizedly) invited Cerdic to settle Hampshire and together put down Briton king Natanleod in Dorset (benefiting both Dumnonia and Wessex on either side. This would be Mark betraying Arthur's unified Briton cause for his own benefit in alliance w/Arthur's enemies the Saxons. Otherwise its difficult to see how a Saxon could've had so much success after Arthur had so recently trounced the Saxons at Badon 493 and driven them back Eastward. Arthur eventually had to march S from Viroconium in Powys to drive a wedge between Cunomorus in Dumnonia and Cerdic at Cerdiceford 518, after which he headed home to Powys, meeting Modred in battle 519-20 at Camlann in C E Wales (where his likely grave is). This is when Arthur's unified kingdom split into Gwynnedd (under Modred) and Powys (under Arthur's son Cuneglasus aka Cynlas EE2). Cerdic's son Cynric has a hybrid name, half Saxon and half Celtic. This suggests that Cerdic m. a Celt who became Cynric's mom (149, i.e. Crioda is omitted in some lists). Cynric probably also m. a Celt, naming their son Ceawlin, an entirely Brit name (see summary of KA in ScotKngs.html).

46 (c505-c565) Brychan of the Gododdin - Ingenach
"The period between 410 and 450 [in Britain] saw an almost complete breakdown of the social order, particularly in the N ... During this 40yrs certain chieftains had become warleaders to defend their lands ... The best known was Coel, the Old King Cole of the nursery rhyme ... Others from this period in the N were Ceretic, who ruled from Dumbarton, and Cunedda, who seems to have been a war leader in the area of the Votodini, in Lothian, before he migrated to N Wales ... Cunedda was king of the Votadini, meaning that tribe, not of the land associated with them ... The [Briton] kingdoms we know are those that survived the initial Saxon invasion and were documented in the battles that followed as the Saxons and Angles drove westward. In the N there was a British kingdom based on the tribe of the Votadini, which later became known as the Gododdin" (MBKQ p44-6). So based on this, Brychan is probably descended from Cunedda (tho he doesn't show up on the "Sons of Cunedda" diagram on p140).

Founding of Rome: "One legend says that the Trojan warrier Aeneas set up a kingdom in Italy after the fall of Troy in the 1100s BC. Another tradition describes how 2 of his descendants, Romulus and Remus, founded the city of Rome in 753 BC ... (originally) a simple farming community. According to tradition, 7 kings ruled early Rome ... Romulus, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Lucius Tarquinius Priscus, Servius Tullius, and Lucius Tarquinius Superbus. During the 500s BC, the Etruscans ruled Rome (built city wall, drained nearby swamps, laid first sewer ... The Romans rose against the harsh Etruscan king Tarquinius Superbus, and declared Rome a republic in 509 BC ... During the 400s BC, Rome and neighboring cities formed the Latin League to fight their common enemies. Horatius, Coriolanus, and Cincinnatus were heroes of this period" (Worldbook).Family Index : : : Trojan Genealogy (2, from Nennius, cited at Wikipedia)

According to British-Israel theory (i.e. Jewish Princess Tephi, dau of King Zedekiah, the last King of Judah, traveled to Ireland by boat with the prophet Jeremiah shortly after the start of the Babylonian captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar (her father and brothers had been killed by Nebuchadnezzar), and there married King Heremon of Ireland, thus continuing the line of Davidic kings as God promised (2 Sam 7:12-6), see book One Man's Destiny)Family Index : : : Judah-to-Ireland link (? if British-Israel theory is correct)
Note: Hmmm, Pharaoh Cingeris (aka Wahibre [Egyptian], Apries [Greek], Hophra [Hebrew, cf Jer 44:30, 46:25, 47:26; Ezek 29, 30:21-6 (HAW)]) r589-70 BC, 4th in 26th Dynasty (see wiki entry w/pic), some B-I accounts o/l say he d. chasing Moses (!? Ussher says that was Amenophis #? r?, most others say it was Rameses II 'the Great' r c1278-12). 26th Dynasty was Psamtik (Psammetichus) I, Nekau (Necho) II (i.e. helped Assyria at Carchemish v. Babylon, k. Josiah), Psamtik (Psammetichus) II, Wahibre (Apries), Ahmose II (Amasis), Psamtik (Psammetichus) III. After Carchemish 605 BC, "2 of the greatest ancient empires ceased to be world powers. Egypt was caged, and Assyria no longer existed. The Babylonian crown had become the most powerful in the world" (HAW p441). Apries chose NOT to help Judah against Nebuchadnezzar. His general Amasis later led a revolt against him (HAW p502); Apries was captured, escaped and later killed. Shortly after this, Cambyses of Persia invaded and conquered Egypt (in his 4th year). Hmmm, Ussher says Egypt wasn't founded until 2188 (54yrs after Babel), when Ham's son Mizraim led some colonists there from Mesopotamia.

122 Scota - Niul (p102)
123 Merytaten - [Pharoah] Smenkhkare
124 Nefertiti - Amenhotep IV (aka Akhenaton)
Hmmm, Pharoah Smenkhkare r1334-3 BC was part of the 13th Dynasty, seen as either a son or son-in-law of Pharoaoh Akhenaton (aka Amenhotep IV r1349-34 BC) or possibly even his wife aka Nefertiti (perhaps she sought to rule while hiding her female-ness, unacceptable to many Egyptians). But KRGG's chart on p92 is clearly depicting pharoahs of the 18th Dynasty, as follows:
1xx Amenhotep IV (should be Amenemhat IV r1815-07) - Sobeknefru (rare fem ruler r1807-3)
1xx Tiye-Nefertiti - Amenhotep III (should be Amenemhat III r1860-15, parents of Amen IV)

Khafre's son Menkaure r2532-03 (Grk Mycerinus) ended building monuments to Pharoahs (his people were tiring of the cost/effort) and, after his 3rd pyramid (much smaller, ~1/2), built temples instead i.e. went easy on the people.

Not a line of mine (so far), but for interest (p93):
Hmmm, the following gives an alternate genealogy of Solomon's Egyptian wife (p99):
Hmmm, so the following (from p92) are left out of above (from p93)?!:
1xx Senwosret (Senusret) III r1878-60 BC (#5 of 8 ldrs in 12th Dyn) - Mereret III (parents of Amen III)
1xx Senwosret II r1897-78 (#4 in 12th Dyn)
1xx Amenhemhat II r1929-1895 (#3 in 12th Dyn)
1xx Senwosret I r1971-26 (#2 in 12th Dyn)
1xx Amenhotep (should be Amenemhat, #1 in 12th Dyn) I r1991-62 - ? dau of Menuhotep III
1xx Senwosret (father of Sen I, apparently NOT a pharoah), Menuhotep III also in this generation (#5 of 11th Dyn r2004-1992 BC, wife/dau Nefir is wife of Terah, mom of Sarah)
1xx Menuhotep II (probably Montuhotep II, #4 of 11th Dyn, r2055-04 BC)
1xx Menuhotep I (probably Montuhotep I, hmmm, not shown, likely father of Men II, #6 of 11th Dyn is Men IV r1992-85)
1xx Inyotef III i.e. Intef III #3 of 11th Dyn r2063-55 (Thebes only for 1-3, all Egypt for 4-6)
1xx Inyotef II #2 of 11th Dyn r2112-2063
1xx Inyotef I #1 of 11th Dyn r2125-12
1xx Menuhotep I [not shown in Egypt bk, likely father of Men II]
1xx Ankhfn-Khonsu (hmmm, not shown in DK Egypt bk, wow, 7-10th Dyn gap, but not so many years, OK, plausible)

1xx Pepy II (6th Dyn r2278-2184, cf above @140)
[Hmmm, p92 shows Tiye-Nefertiti m. Amenhotep III d1815 BC and their SON was Amenhotep IV (Moses) who m. Sobeknefru. This is 12th Dyn w/Amenemhat III r1855-08 and son Amen IV r1808-1799, then (fem) Sobekneferu r1799-95, last of the 18th Dyn]
125 Joseph - Asenath (parents of Tiye-Nefertiti)
When Josiah died in 610, his son Jehoahaz, or Shallum, b. 633, r. 610 (bad) took over, but had reigned for only 3 months when Pharaoh Neco of Egypt overran Jerusalem. When Jehoahaz wouldn't cooperate, Neco imprisoned him (in Egypt) and installed Eliakim, another son of Josiah, onto the throne (as a puppet ruler), changing his name to Jehoiakim, where he "ruled" 11 years (bad), until 599, when Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked Jerusalem, looting the Temple, exiling Eliakim and about 3K other Jews (incl. Ezekiel) to Babylon, and installing Eliakim's 8 year old son Jehoiachin as (puppet) King of Judah (lasted 3 months, bad). Nebuchadnezzar then exiled him to Babylon and installed Mattaniah (renamed Zedekiah), another son of Josiah, as puppet king, lasting 11 years (bad) until 588, when Jerusalem was sacked by Nebuchadnezzar (zenith of Babylon), beginning 70 years of captivity for the Jews, until the foundation of Persia, as fortold by the prophet Jeremiah. As an interesting genealogical sidenote, the line to Jesus continues from Josiah thru Jechoniah, Salathiel, Zerubbabel, Abiud, Eliakim, Azor, Zadok, Achim, Eliud, Eleazar, Matthan, Jacob, Joseph who m. Mary (also descended from King David), parents of Jesus the Messiah/ChristFamily Index : : : Kings of Judah (dates from Ussher)
Traditionally, Ham "has been associated with Africa, Japheth with Europe [the West] and Shem with the East" [i.e. "Semites"]. This from Tudor Parfitt's The Lost Tribes of Israel, citing Rabinus Maurus' famous work De Universo or De rerum naturis, compiled 842-6 AD, published 10C AD.Family Index : : : Shem to Adam (Biblical genealogy, Ussher dates)
"World leadership, which after the Flood was first held by the Hamitic races, and from them passed on to the Semitic nations, was from now on [starting w/Persia] to become concentrated in the hands of the Japhethic, or Aryan, peoples" (241). History has played out acc. to Gen. 9:24-7; "All the greatest empires of the earliest antiquity were Hamitic: the mighty and long-continued kingdom of [Mizraim] Egypt; the great empire of Nimrod [early Babylon] ... all the 7 nations of Canaan; and above all ... the Hittites ... Next ... were the Semites ... Assyria and [later] Babylon ... under Nebuchadnezzar it became a world empire ... finally overthrown by the Persians [the first Aryan world power p243] ... The destruction of the Semitic Babylonian empire in 538 BC by Cyrus the Persian was the beginning of Japhethic world rule ... [then] Alexander the Great, also an Aryan ... [then after defeating Hamitic Carthage at decisive Zama 202 BC] Rome [later Europe [w/India, Russia], Britain, America]" (244-5, The Rebirth of the State of Israel, Arthur W. Kac, 1958, Moody Press, SBC). Kac draws from H. Grattan Guinness' 1889 book The Divine Programme of the World's History (Hodder and Stoughton, London). It would be interesting to look that book over.
