Abraham was probably born on Long Island, NY, as it was in 1684 that his parents moved to Cripplebush (or Bushwick), Long Island, and his brother, John, was baptized at Flatbush, Long Island. We know that he went to NJ in 1702 and settled near Raritan, Somerset County.

He and Marietje were married about 1710, probably in Raritan, NJ at the Dutch Church.

He became a noted Indian fighter and, in 1715, served in Capt. Peter Dumont's Sixth Co. in Col. Thomas Farmer's Regiment of the NY Militia.

Abraham inherited some of his father's many acres on the Millstone River. He owned 306 acres on the Millstone and Royce's Brook, with a half-interest in the grist mill on the west side of the brook.

Abraham was listed as a "miller" in his will dated 25 May 1747. Among his effects were a large Dutch Bible and a silver cup. His executors were Jeronimus Van Neste and "Cosyne" John Brokaw. Witnesses were Pieter Stryker, John Van Neste and Maregritje Brouer.
